Williams Candy Shop
1318 Surf Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11224
Best for Candy Apples, Cotton Candy, Candy by the Pound
Rush too quickly to get to Paul’s Daughter and you'll walk past Williams Candy Shop, a hole-in-the-wall candy emporium frozen in the 1940's, when it first opened.
The controlled chaos of ordering is similar to that of Katz Deli. Step up, order with confidence, and a small systematized army of employees will ensure you satisfy your sugar craving with pure efficiency.
Before entering though, we suggest erasing from your mind any particular candy you're craving. Take a deep breath, allow the contact-sugar high to take hold, look around, and let your unconscious brain choose for you. A meditative candy purchasing experience is a truly thrilling odyssey for your heart, mind and belly.
Distance from the RBC BK Half route:
Let's call this on the route.
When should you visit?
- Summer time vibes - the Coney Island boardwalk is always packed but weekdays anytime and Sundays after 6pm are when it's more low-key
What should you order?
- Ice cream, for one - it wasn't apparent from the exterior that they carried it, and it very much changed our entire order - highly suggest
- Candy Apples - they have a family recipe. Family recipes are the best.
What else should you know?
Some marathoners have been known to use Swedish Fish as fuel during a race (possibly a PED?), and they sell them by the pound here.
