We're making this article on the floor of the store at 2am Pacific, so it's going to be mostly visuals. And by visuals we mean screenshots of the Figma board where Ale keeps all her design notes and whatever we have in our camera rolls. It ain't much, but it's honest work...
First things first when we're considering a space, let's see what the Strava heatmap data has to say about it... Sunset Blvd is lit up the a chrimmus tree:
Here's the outside and the floor plan. The space was previously used as a rotating pop-up location.
When Victor called us with the opportunity, we hopped on the next flight out to see it in person and snap some pics...
By the time we kicked off, we had less than 2 months to design the space, lineup the construction and fabrication, and move-in. We need to check with Guinness Book of World Records, but we think this may be a contender for fastest store build ever...
Not sure why, but the 3D modeler used a ninja to demonstrate the size of the space. Not mad about it.
The materials we wanted to use this go around were chosen to reflect the broader LA environment while ensuring they're suitable for sweaty, post-run bodies.
Here's how that was manifested for the cash wrap...
This is Mike from Hard Goods, our store build partner. They help us with basically all of our pop-ups and spaces. He looks exactly like Vincent Cassel from Oceans 12. Lucky devil!
Starting to place everything...
5AM run this morning to the LA flower district. Ardith's natural habitat.
The team tradition of signing a wall in the store continues...
Ale was super stoked at hearing our racks were delayed until... in an hour from now (11AM)... 1 hour before we're supposed to open.
Our 6-panel TV setup... Shoutout to Colden for the vids. Next time we might splurge for the bezel-less boys. What do we think?
New neighbors a bit down the road... How do we signup?
