The Spring 2024 Collection introduces the most new fabric platforms we've ever rolled out in a single season. For the Bandit design team, the exploration process for fabric selection follows a system that prioritizes performance, first and foremost. Does it have the properties most important to the runner's journey? Quick drying, wicking, and compressive where relevant are typically the high-level, initial bar-meeting fabric attributes required. Next, we seek to balance with a uniquely Bandit aesthetic. Does the fabric have a unique texture and an elevated aesthetic without sacrificing an ounce of performance? Bonus points if so. Finally, we look to deduce the fabric's longevity and adaptability. Can it work for men's and women's products? Will it translate to multiple silhouettes? And finally, will it stand the test of time - both aesthetically and from a durability standpoint.
This is a highly simplified take on the process, but a starting point for burgeoning fabric heads to understand the Bandit design process. Vento™
Meticulously crafted in Japan, this ripstop was created using a specialized weaving technique that enhances the fabric's durability and tear resistance. Ripstop fabrics are characterized by a grid pattern of thicker reinforcement threads interwoven at regular intervals, which prevent tears and rips from spreading. Like Vento™, Japanese Ripstop's robust construction is also treated with a water repellent finish, enhancing its resistance to moisture penetration. This finish creates a hydrophobic barrier on the fabric's surface, causing water to bead and roll off rather than being absorbed. As a result, the fabric has an added protection against light rain or moisture exposure. You'll find the Japanese Ripstop fabric on our new, Japanese Ripstop Windbreaker.

Chequed Jacquard
The chequed Jacquard made it's very limited run debut with our NYC Marathon long sleeve tee, and it is finally here for it's big stage debut. Utilizing a custom jacquard knit technique, this fabric seamlessly integrates the Bandit wordmark into its design. Composed solely of recycled synthetic fibers, this fabric is engineered with sweat-wicking properties, effectively channeling moisture away from the skin to maintain a drier and more comfortable feel. Further elevating its tactile qualities, a meticulous sanding technique is applied to the face of the fabric, resulting in a remarkably smooth and soft hand feel. Even with the level of knit-detail, the fabric remains extremely lightweight, contributing to enhanced breathability and ease of movement, ultimately achieving its flexibility without the inclusion of spandex. Chequed Jacquard embodies a fusion of technical innovation and aesthetic refinement where comfort, performance, and style converge seamlessly.

Cadence ™ (Rib)
So we might have jumped the shark calling Vento™ our highest expectation new platform. The ribbed Cadence™ fabric got all four thumbs way up during our community-centered prototyping process. Cadence™ is engineered with a nylon and elastane blend, offering advanced moisture management through efficient wicking and rapid evaporation, enhanced by a specialized finish for quicker drying and reduced chafing risk. Its unique Ottoman knit structure features distinct ribbed textures for durability, visual appeal, and improved air circulation to aid moisture evaporation. The fabric's construction not only promotes flexibility and fabric recovery but also ensures the material retains its shape and properties over time, making it highly durable and ideal for rigorous use. Additionally, the smooth backside of the fabric maximizes wearer comfort, making Cadence suitable for activities that demand both performance and comfort.

System-R ™
Our new System-R Jogger Pants arrived early, and as the author of this article, I cannot sing System-R's praises enough. I've been wearing the System-R joggers as confidently in a workout as I have just walking around the city. This one's a true chameleon of use-cases. Crafted with regenerated ECONYL® Nylon thread, the System-R fabric epitomizes the blend of sustainability and performance. It embodies Italian meticulous engineering that not only ensures an impeccable fit but also shape retention. System-R also flexes it's properties with an exceptional UPF 50+ rating, and is both pilling and abrasion resistant. Characterized by its bi-elastic nature, this fabric seamlessly conforms to the body's contours, accentuating movement and comfort.
