Wales Bonner
Seemed fateful that one of my faves titled “Marathon” (when worlds collide, right?!). Loved how she used a mix of models and runners (Tamirat Tola Adera & Yomif Kejelcha) seamlessly balanced RTW and the sporty vibes from her Adidas collab. It was “ode to long journeys and life missions.”
Some of my faves:
Louis Vuitton
I couldn’t not talk about this show-not only because it was Pharrell’s debut as men’s Creative Director, but honestly a really really good show. The pixelated take on Camo, influenced by traditional house codes felt fresh. Interpreted across silhouettes, fabrics and categories, this hero print (also done in jacquard) was eerily aligned with some upcoming Bandit product. Is it Baader Meinhof frequency illusion or is our finger just on the pulse? You decide.
Fútbol & Football
There was SO. MUCH. SPORT. in the shows (not just the nod to distance running from WB). Soccer’s influence remains with jersey influences styles and multi hit graphics, while American football influence started popping through (more oversized silhouettes, large scale numbers, etc). Saw at Metro, Dior (Resort) , LV, Koche and Jonathan Anderson’s look as he took the bow for his namesake line.
Color
Lots of different levels of browns from spicy cinnamons & nutmegs to rich chocolate (Armani, Dries, Zegna, Lemaire) which I’m obsessed as you know (Q1 2024 palette) and the use of bright red as an accent (The Row, Loewe, Setchu, Kolor)-can see this threaded into a future collection…
Also rich, royal purples against unexpected ochre and pops of acidic brights (Dries, Kolor, Dior, Lemaire)…may have to think about this for Summer!
Now we have to wait until September until I bombard you with more runway content…
