ESPN THE OCHO. We're T-3 weeks and 3 days away from the Bandit Grand Prix, and so we wanted to provide a high-level breakdown of the pace groups, clubs/crews, and geographies represented at the race so far (register here)...
Why bring these stats to bear, you ask? Well... we're not gonna lie, the F1-theme mayyy have backfired a bit in the "this race seems very fast" department. We're here to quell those fears and get you in the game.
Let's dive into the chicken numbies...
Bandit Grand Prix racers hail from:
- 10 Countries. To the Japan and Australia-based runners... you are legends, and the (hydration) beverages are on us.
- 31 US States. California, #4 best represented. Thank you to our left coast friends. Massachusetts, those are rookie numbers. Our Cali friends have you (slightly) beat.
- 99 Different Clubs/Crews/Groups. The updated top 10 list is as follows... The 4-way tie for 10th... who's gonna make a move? It's anyones race. We also can't help but to notice a certain avian club is no where to be find. Someone call that Gilbert boy.
Grand Prix racers span a wide range of paces...
Note: Each Open Heat will be an ~evenly~ distributed field of racers across all pace groups to maximize head-to-head racing to the person to your left.
So yes, fair, there's a good chunk of certified Sonic-the-hedgehogs ripping sub-20 minute 5Ks. However, there's also a very meaningful group (30% +8 minute pace) ready to have an epic time soaking in the sights, sounds, and one fiiiine summer night on the beautiful shores of Brooklyn. Whether you're breaking 16 or holding down the back of the pack with unbridled vibes, this race is for you...
"Bandit Grand Prix, when you're here, you're family."
