Along the Route is our ongoing series documenting the shops, bars, restaurants, venues, parks, and places we think you should know along the route of upcoming races. The first installment of ATR is for the 2022 RBC Brooklyn Half.
Any Thing BK
The Prospect Lefferts Gardens neighborhood is known for its historic brownstones and mouth-watering proximity to Prospect Park. At first glance, you wouldn't expect PLG to be the home of a bar that could give the vibes at Twins Lounge or Eavesdrop a run for their money... but it is.
Meet Any Thing. Opened in 2020 (probably not the most ideal time to start a bar, but who are we to talk), Any Thing is highly and effortlessly curated from the music to the cocktails and food, to the glassware, right down to the different woods and plants peppered throughout. No detail was overlooked in the design and management of this heavenly oasis.
Your best bet is to dip your toes in on a weekday -- may we humbly suggest during happy hour? The specials flow like the salmon of Capistrano. The "Buffalo Bites" which come in both the chicken and cauliflower variety (for you veggies), are damn good.
The weekends get busier, of course, but in a good way if you know what we mean. DJ's who give the people what they want and a disco ball to match. While we like ourselves a unique place, our drink tastes admittedly lean basic... Get the marg and make it spicy. You won't regret it.
Did we mention Any Thing is attached to its sister restaurant, "Names", which serves up ramen that's about as good as it gets? If these fine folks open up another place, we want in.
